Yes, I'm yet another person who recently registered just so I could enter the void fighter contest. Here's my entry:
Brickshelf folder when moderated.
Any and all feedback welcome, as long as you can repeat whatever you say in front of your mother without getting a slap in the face.

Nice...::D:
Wow, we really are seeing some spactacular models for this contest.
Really, what's NOT to like about this model. It's got plenty of guns, nice landing gear, good amount of detail, and an awesome cockpit. It's really great!
(Oh, and welcome to FBTB!) _________________

Very great way to be introduced to FBTB. I'm dazzled at the overall SNOT and shape. Your use of that cockpit piece was done magnificently for such a piece. The greeblings below the cockpit are also nice along with the landing gear from what I can tell now. I'm really diggin' the "beefed" up desing for the Void. Excellent work! _________________ I'm a Reliable Smuggler!

That's quite incredible. I think this contest has a better turnout than any previous FBTB one! I love the angled wings with cannons in the armpits and I particularly like how the design seems to emphasize the missile rack. Great job! _________________

please don't say that. for one, you haven't entered yet, so you can still attempt to beat it. second, we FBTB'ers need to represent. third, you might think of something that inspires somebody else, that's part of the building process.
this is a nice little ship. lots of nice angles and things, and very close to the contest description. the underside of the wings look extremely plain though; they need a little something to break up the space down there. other than that, its a very nice MOC.

Sinister!
I'm just getting around to commenting on the voidfighter entries, and yours is among the best. I especially like this shot. Nice photos all around - an all black MOC is tricky. SNOT, greeblies, original shape, and creative construction - it's all there! Nice job. _________________ >Me<

I like this version a lot as well. I'm glad to see some beefier fighters entered in this contest as mine has gotten quite beefy. I love the landing gear. Pl;ain and simple. That is a hight point of praise on your part - the mechanics of it are excellent. I was actually going to do something similar on the tips of the wings, but for me it looked more like engines on the ends than thrusters. I do have one question, though - what sets did that visor come in? I've never seen it before.

Definitely a strong contender... Great work overall, but what I really like about this MOC is the way you thought of the landing gear mechanism. Very cool indeed. _________________ Darkkazmo

This simple contest...the stitch of many a great builder...
A striking feature of this MOC is not it's beefy build, but rather the blue cockpit interior, sheltered by the trans-black windshield gives it a eeriy blacklight glow. To me, that's the "life in the void".
The overall shape of this fighter resembles that of a stingray with a curtailed tail . Of this I find the turn off switch. From my interpretation of the voidfighter (or any other formidable fighter), I picture something nimble --smooth, curvy, and sharp, enough to arouse those who find a lustful pleasure in ships (I will not mention names). Therefore, I think that this particular fighter is like a fat cafeteria lady. I'd rather you sharpen out the tail, but to perform liposuction on the juicy wings will be too rich for most of us. And I see that you have a shortage of 1X2 black tiles .
Lastly, take more pictures!

I ansolutley love the extension fin behind the cockpit, and the guns and landing gear are great.
I'm not sure I follow what you mean gold 2, how are the bottom of the wings plain? _________________

seen here in this picture: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1491594 the underside of the 10x6 and 4x6 plates are without detail, and I feel that adding any kind of detail there would really help to break up that large area. don't get me wrong, this and fmoo's Voids are competing for first in my book right now.
Enigma, one of the first things a great builder learns is that you have to build in 3 dimensions. I'm still struggling with the idea myself, learning the techniques by which MOCs are built "in the round," where details exist over every surface, not just the top. its difficult to become proficient at it. Big X has done a very nice job with the undersides for the most part, but these large plates look a little unfinished to me, that's all I was saying. _________________ Veni Vidi Posti- I came, I saw, I posted...

Ok, why don't you go with the Arc 170 winfg desicn. With studs on top and bottom? Surely there's some way to do it. _________________

I never did get around to responding to all the great feedback, so here I go:
If any of you were to peruse through my brickshelf folder, you'd pick up quite quickly that BEEFY is my style. I do not believe there was a mass criteria in the description, but think what you like .
As per the cockpit: I've had a lot of positive feedback on the brightly colored cockpit. I too thought blue interior was teh hawt. I'm glad you like it Nannan. And no, I didn't run out of black 1x2 tiles. The using jumpers instead was completely intentional.
Concerning the bottom of the wings: I agree. They are plain. Normally I wouldn't leave any side of my ship neglected when it comes to detail, but so many things are inside those wings holding the thing together that I decided structural integrity was more important than schmooving out the underside. Perhaps now that I'm not so concerned about keeping my void intact, I may experiment a little.
Again, thanks everyone for the feedback and the warm welcome. _________________ Happiness is a big cookie.
