Whelp, two days ago I finished reading SOTE. You're probably wondering why I'm so excited even though it came out almost 10 years ago. But hey, it's the first book I've read the whole thing to in a LONG time. And I thought it was pretty good!

Just one question though, could it be possible that Dash found a space-lane and jumped right when the flash went off, or is he for sure dead?

*spoilers for the Shadows of the Empire video games*

If you completed the game on the highest difficulty level, instead of the end cutscenes where everyone mourns Dash's death, it shows that Dash made a very narrow escape in order to A) make everyone believe that he was dead and B) erase all his debts across the galaxy. So, yeah, Dash is alive, at least according to the games.

I finished this a month back. Nice to know dash is alive, but he wasn't the MOST in depth character. I prefer Xizor.

What was you're favourite part, Repoort? Mine was the seduction bit. Coolness! Wink

I really liked the ending part with the shootout. Where Xizor took things into his own hands, only to be a wuss and run when Landro drops the detonator. And then when Luke faces Guri alone. That was all cool. Too bad Xizor dies, I agree he was much cooler than Dash.

I've also just started reading Heir to the Empire. Hopefully it's just as good. I've always been interested in Thrawn.

Thrawn is the BOMB. That's why he's the avatar for me.

I too just finished reading it. I didn't think it was all that great. I'm currently reading Force Heretic II, Refugee. It's not all that great either.

The Thrawn Trilogy is among the best books written for EU. You won't be disappointed, Repoort.

Agreed. The Hand of Thrawn books on the other hand, IMO, are disappointing examples of how egotistical a certain SW writer can be, though. Not to mention that they're not really all that interesting to read...

They actually might have to wait, Collin. I just picked up the Bourne Ultimatum and I'd like to read that before the movie comes out. Whenever that is. I also got the Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, so I'd like to read that too. I also picked up Dark Force Rising, but of course I'll read the first one...first.

I think it's from the SNES video game, actually.

Apparently so.

I don't think there was an SNES game, but there was an N64 one, which I have.

Actually it's not a soundtrack for the game, SOTE was designed as a multimedia experience. If any EU could be described as canon more than any other, SOTE would be it. It had everything you would expect from a Star Wars movie except the movie itself.

Was the game any good!? Holy freakin' crap, man! The game's still good! Playing through it ranks as one of my fondest memories with my N64.

Um, like, what's the title dude? And I wouldn't think it's by Perry because I looked him up online and he's only written like 3 books.
