Hey, wouldn't that mean that soda would qualify as a vegetable, since it's mostly corn syrup? Very Happy

Either that or it would be water, since that's the first ingredient.

Can you make the Ketchup law worldwide, please?
My mom always complains that I eat too much of this, but from vegetables (or fruits) you can't eat too much Smile

Now, while ketchup (or however you prefer to spell it)...

Am I driving you nuts with catsup? Laughing I've always preferred that spelling because it does seem so wrong and back woods like. I love it when people say I am spelling it wrong, and that's when I bust out the dictionary. Both are accepted spellings I believe. One day there will be a war over this Iím sureÖ and the U.S. will be behind it.Wink Whether itís a fruit or a vegetable, I would simply think of it as food, though I prefer mayonnaise with my French fries instead of catsup. Iím half Dutch.

dW, Thanks for the tip, I will look for that book. I always enjoy a good read when Iím on the toilet (with two kids its the only quite place for me to read). It will give me a break from Uncle Johnís Bathroom Reader, which is a good read on history as well. It might not be as sophisticated as the read you suggested though. History is one of my favorite topics, and I like the fact that there are a few people here that enjoy this subject too. Unfortunately Iím a Jack of all trades and master of none when it comes to the things Iím interested in. History, physics, mathematics (especially fractals and Fibonacci ratios), general science, anthropology, psychology and sociology are all subjects I find fascinating, but in all reality I donít even scratch the surface on these subjects. Really, I just love to know how everything works. I try to never stop learning new things.

Regardless of your ancestry, mayonnaise would be considered eggs under my system.

Would that system then render most spices fruits or veggies?

No, not really. But we do have issues, and we haven't seen a lot of movement on those issues, and that's making a lot of Americans unhappy.

Exactly. I'm not making a point that we're good or bad, simply that we are a nation, same as any others. I still think it's a great place to live, but trying to glaze over or change history is an abomination. Knowing history is how not to repeat it, and understanding it is how you change and grow.

It depends on what the spice is made of, but I'm leaning towards classifying spices as their own subset.

Deal- I spell it that way, but I don't say it that way. The other way to pronounce it-actually does drive me nuts. Odd, I know.

I think you misscomprehend me... if you want to spell it "catsup" - go for it. So long as you pronounce it "cats-up." But if you want to say "ketchup" out loud but not spell it that way, well then you're just being a prick.

And Winks, I agree: spices are spices. They're just ground up. Still the spice.
