No, I think Chris meant, that people in Europe already changed time last Sunday.
I wonder anyway, why America made it one whole week later?

It saves on energy costs. They're trying to lower our usage of fossil fuels. It's a small step, but at least they're trying now.

ah, and this is why you need to have it one week longer than Europe?

Everyone loves the summer Daylight Savings Time, so two years ago the government made it a month longer.

It's always been a waste of time for the sole purpose of having extra time to waste if you ask me...

You actually did sleep an extra hour. Today, only.

I'm waiting for the day when you all have to set the clocks again, because then you'll have to go back...to the future!

I don't think you'll need the 1.21 jigawatts* of electricity to power the clocks, though...

*You say gigawatts, I say jigawatts.

By making DST longer, America saves 100's of thousands of barrels of oil, and about one percent per extra day in electricity costs.

And by not doing it, Arizona saves even more. Wink

Atleast the time in Arizona doesn't get confusing...regardless of money not saved.

In least it can save us from dumb terrorists...

If I recall correctly, the clocks were set to "zion time", but terrorists themselves were following daylight time which was hour later. They left and blew in freeways because they were a hour late.

I can't find cite for this, so I can't prove this. Sad

I'm not an expert on why Arizona doesn't do DST, but I believe they did a study and realized that it wouldn't affect their energy usage all that much. Essentially they spend part of the year in Mountain Time, part of the year in Pacific Time. Maybe a native could come by and tell us the truth of that...

And to provide a caveat to my earlier statement - the energy savings of barrels of oil and electricity percentages I talked about the other day was the reason they started doing DST way back in the day. I have no idea if it's still true today.
