|
|
Hot on the heels of the week-long web poll hosted by Toys'R'Us.com, FBTB and The LEGO Group cordially invite you to participate in a live, moderated chat this Wednesday, May 21 8pm Eastern/5pm Pacific. Steve Witt, famous for his beard and also being the Community Relations Coordinator, along with Melinda Carter, Retail Exclusive Manager for the LEGO Group, will be joining me along with a few other FBTB team members to host the event.
The topic of the chat will be a Q&A session where we talk about the features YOU would like to see in each of the three potential sets. The web address for the chat will be http://www.fbtb.net/chat . Bookmark it now and check it out for details regarding the chat. If you can't make it, fear not, the entire transcript will be posted shortly after.
I'll be posting rules shortly. _________________ flickr

This should help guests from various time zones calculate the local time.

1AM in the morning. Great. Really great. Amazingly enough, Europeans do make up a percentage of this site, although you wouln't know it.
Well, looks like I'll have to give it a miss. Great... _________________ http://www.ogame.org |

The only thing stopping me from showing my face is that I have a physics exam 8 hourse after it starts, boo and hiss to that.
But I'm sure it'll be interesting. _________________

Can't make it - going out for my dad's 55th.
... but does this mean that FBTB will be getting a chat room at long last? _________________ Brickshelf | Bricklink | Brickpics.com

we may keep the chat room after the event, assuming the tomfoolery is kept to a minimum.
working for a company with employees all over the globe, i can attest to the difficulty in picking a time that will accommodate everyone and believe you me it is nigh impossible. 8pm eastern was picked to accommodate primarily for our special guests and then for yours truly who lives on the west coast. If we ever get the opportunity to do this again, we will try to consider another time slot. _________________ flickr |

Personally, 1AM would be a lot more convenient than what I've got over here in California, because at 5PM Pacific Time means I'll sill be at work unless I go in early or dodge out early. Be happy we have this opportunity at all. |
ditto. I'll get home right when this is ending. Unless I can find a way to convince my boss it's work related. Then I can stay an get OT! _________________ Unofficial Star Wars Fan Day at Disneyland

Hey Jake, I'm assuming you're in college, because normally 1 AM would not be a bad time at all for us here. Maybe I'll be on at 5 though. _________________

Hmm... I just tried connecting and first got a *** Looking up your hostname... message displayed for a bit followed by a big black "Could not connect: Terminated" error.
What'd I break?
(EDIT-) Well, whatever it was it finally worked on the fifth or sixth attempt.

I've only seen that issue when I've tried to join multiple times. If all else fails, open up 6666-6668 on your firewall. _________________ Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe. - Albert Einstein |

Um, i logged in to check out how to work the 'chat room' ( and got out of there fairly quick because i was scared ) - i guess using the thing is all pretty self explanatory when it gets going huh? _________________

Take the period off the end of the URL. I fixed it in the post above.
Oh, and incidentally, my name should almost always be in there, since my chat client is running non-stop to maintain the channel and settings. If I don't respond, I'm probably working or asleep.
As an FYI, if anyone would rather use an IRC client instead of the web chat, feel free. We're on irc.esper.net, and the channel is called #FBTB. You're bound by all the rules of Esper.net if you do so, and don't go bringing bots or any such nonsense into our chat room or we'll kick you to the curb like a tub of MegaBloks. _________________ Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe. - Albert Einstein |

OK, now I'm sorry to have been so harsh. I just feel that a better time could be arranged.
For example, how about a weekend spot? That way, you could start it earlier American time, which would mean that Europe wouldn't have to stay up so late...
And Juns, if I were in Uni, I'd be up... _________________ http://www.ogame.org |

I had one huge brain fart when I read that the first time, when Jake said 1 AM my mind went straight to 1 AM wednesday, but if it's 8 PM for you, it'll be 1 AM thursday for us. I don't have an early exam, so I might take a peak.
And just as a mini confession type thing, I was on it at 1 AM this morning because I was nervous and anxious and couldn't sleep. Exams went great though. _________________

I don't see an issue with leaving questions. In fact, I encourage it, since that sort of structure gives us time to pick things, and makes life far easier on the mods.
For everyone that's having problems connecting through the web chat... try using a program like mIRC. We're still working out bugs on the online stuff, so give it a bit-o-time. _________________ Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe. - Albert Einstein |
