It looks like a vehicle from Jules Verne.
I love the details, especially the fuming chimney.
And perfect use for the Indy whips.
Could you place Darth Vader in front of it instead of this fig you used? _________________ ~Andi

I was hoping you wouldn't enter
But this is awesome. I mean, it's a perfect tie fighter!
I'll have to step up my MOC after seeing this. _________________ Raptor Fun Fact #73- The raptor's natural enemy is the gas-powered internal combustion off-road vehicle, which is made of evil.

That is just about perfect. When I think of Steam Wars, I'll now think of that ship. That's fairly close to what I had in mind for something like the TIE fighter. My big curiousiy will be to see how the guy gets into the cockpit. _________________ Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe. - Albert Einstein |

Dude. That is crazy good. I literally laughed when I saw this thing because it's so great to see something that so totally captures what this contest is about. _________________ _,.-:*?`?*:-.,_,.-:*?`?*:-.,_,.-:*?`?*:-.,_,.-:*?`?*:-.,_,.-:*?`?*:-.,_,.-:*?`?*:-.,_,.-:*?`?*:-.,_ |

This is genius! I love the bricky steam. I was already impressed when I saw the front end ( the whip - whiskers are great),then I saw the awesomeness that is the propulsion system. I'm not sure about the side props though. Have you considered steam thusters connected to hoses for maneuvering ?
I clearly need to step up my game.

I think we might have a winner. I thought about doing the TIE but I went with the Naboo fighter. Good Job. I hope every hates it as much as I like it. _________________

Nah, this is great. You just HAD to go and build something though. For once I wanted a chance to win something _________________

That is insanely good work, Rocko..
Those octagonal dark grey parts seem to be both inspirational and integral to your build here.. but you just seem to have gotten one great idea after another from there.
Favorite part? The use of the wagon wheel as a windscreen... I think it captures the essence of the TIE fighter perfectly. _________________ flickr |

This might sound crazy, but even if I do manage to enter this contest.. I hope your entry wins, it's that good. Even steampunk has different genres, and this Wright brothers style TIE is amazing. I'm going to have to seriously think way ahead of this if I get to build something. _________________

I'm sorry to say that I really have absolutely nothing constructive to say or add to anything else.
So I'll just say that this is a beautifuly made craft that has everything it needs for this contest and I wouldn't change a thing, that is pure genius and fantastic building.
And that chimney is so uberly cool.
You really do rock, and, not to get ahead of myself, you may have won the conetest before the deadline even opened. Bravo dude.
Would you ever consider doing a Steampunk version of your van _________________

Woo, beautiful! Loving the wings, but how stable are they?
The cockpit looks nice, and the use of a cartwheel as the viewport is just inspired...
Love the giant smokestack on the back, and nice steam too!
Good luck in the contest! _________________ http://www.ogame.org |

Absolutely beautiful. I cannot imagine a better entry.
Well, at least now I know that I am not going to win. I won't have to sit around for a month sweating and biting my nails. I can just build an enjoyable MOC and have fun.
I can imagine the wings as being big wheels which turn to propel the vehicle forward.
Great work. _________________ Next stop...the stars! |

It's not the easiest access but he does fit in. (No "that's what she said" jokes allowed.)

There are a lot of TIE variants like Vader's TIE etc. If you've got your mind set on TIE maybe try another version. Hell, you can do the same standard one. I don't mind. I just want to see some more contest entries.

Actually this whole thing started from wanting to use the wheel as a windscreen. Just kind of came together from there.

Coming from you, that is a huge compliment. You are one of the best space/mech/ship builders around right now and I look forward to your entry.

You'd be surprised how stable they are. Definitely 200% more stable than the floppy wings of the official TIE set. Mine are held to the body by technic axles.
Thanks for the comments guys. I'm looking forward to more entries from everyone. _________________ |)0U{|-|3 |)0U{|-|3=================================== |

Darn. Darn. I'm definately not getting 1st place, not unless this thing A)-is someow disqualified B)- The very fabric of realspace is torn and erases it's existence from the plain of reality. There's not even room for improvment... at all... I mean, this may as well have been crafted by none other than Jesus (A known and avid LEGO enthusiast). Curse you, RebelRock, I fart in your general direction . _________________ I was wondering if I might possibly receive a portion of your brain matter to consume. |

Oh, I have a suggestion about Don's comment above, which is a great idea by the way. What if I build a steampunk X-wing to dogfight Rocko's TIE , same steampunk style, white background, photoshop, and voila! _________________

It'd be cool, but we wouldn't allow those in the submission thread. I expect to see several Steam-Xs running around before it's done, as well as TIEs.
That being said, there's nothing to stop people from making the same ship. Just make sure there are enough differences to avoid a foul cry (it's pretty apparent when a build has been ripped off entirely) from the populace. There are only so many ships, and tons of interest, so it's to be expected that there will be overlap.
That's honestly part of the joy in building, and in this contest. There's so much room for customization, and in truth, every Steampunk ship should be unique from one another. It's a hallmark of the setting. No cookie cutter molds, things are "hand-built" and big machines. _________________ Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe. - Albert Einstein |

That would be cool to do just for fun. Now we just need a steampunk Death Star for the background. _________________ |)0U{|-|3 |)0U{|-|3=================================== |

I assumed someone would build a steam tie, but not like this. This truely resembles the ship, and looks like that's what it would be at early developing steam stages.
