Today at school was a day of reds, whites and pinks everywhere. Of cookies and candies and treats galore. I found myself full after 3rd period, yet I still had room for food. People were walking around with little boxes of candy and rediculously-huge teddy bears. And of course there were flowers.

Tonight, thought not being the actual holiday, is the Valentine's dance. I'm sure you can guess what the theme is. About now girls are busy doing their make-up and fixing their hairdos. And everyone is going out to dinner.

After school I went to track practice, and while I'm not on the team, I happen to be the team manager and did many a chore during the daily session. Which, afterall wasn't too bad due to the slight rainfall that had begun to fall.

Now I'm sitting here at home. I don't really like to dance in some of the newer fashions that people've come up with. And I surely don't like the music they play. But I find myself sitting here, feeling alone. I'd like to be there, just to see people and have fun. To chit chat and joke about things.

We have a three-day weekend and I have nothing planned. Except the essay I have to write. But my procrastination will lead me to start that on monday. In the time being I've got nothing. Perhaps it's a bit of self-pity I'm trying to bestow on you all, and I'll admit, it is an attempt.

I hope you all had an enjoyable day and get your wishes answered.

Happy Valentine's Weekend everyone.

We have school on valentine's day itself.

As for dances, I gave those up way back in 7th grade. They're lame. They're annoying. And they have absolutely no taste in music.

Good news for me, no girls know where I live, and we are not in school for a week. Half-term rocks. So now I can stay girl free!

No doubt all the classrooms will smell of bouqets and chocolate. Y'know, that's pretty much all I like about valentine's day, chocolate. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten chocolate for Valentine's Day since 5th grade. Hmmm..... Better rob them from my little brother. Wink

Dang, I still haven't gone to a dance or the movies with a girl. Dang.

But I have to ask:

If a lego-lovin' girl asked you to the dance, would you go?

You know, it's not just the dance itself. It's dinner before, and building aftwerword.

Me, I've been going to dances and movies and such with girls since I was 5. All things considered, it's because I am a girl, and all my friends are girls, and heck, it's fun.

Hmm... did I miss something here? Are you saying that you belong to the female part of humanity, just like me? Shocked

Nothing like a totally meaningless holiday to make single folks feel like garbage and promote the color pink... an abomination.

It takes a real man to wear pink.

I despise the fact that St. Valentine's day has become so commercialized (thank you, Hallmark!). But thankfully, so does my girlfriend, so I can get away with a bit of chocolate and dinner!

I'm one of those weird guys that likes spending money on his significant other, though. I buy her gifts just for the heck of it (often Lego, bwahahaha), and it drives her nuts, but it's fun. Wink

Yes, Duchessa. I am a girl. I've been lurking for quite some time. It's been a couple years since that dratted dark age. Gah.

Which makes it really funny when threads like this come up, and it's the boys complaining about the girls they forget exist sometimes... Wink

There you go.. I've seen you around for a while, Darkie, so your username isn't new to me. I just never caught up with the fact that you're not a guy Razz

So mayby you and I can complain for a while now about how guys never ask us out or send Valentine gifts...? Wink

Well, I am married, and I don't think I have even received a Valentine Card for a number of years. I doubt I will get one this year either. I asked the hub if we were going to do anything, (I have a card and 2 DVDs for him stashed away) and he said- "Nah, I don't think we'll do anything. It's just stupid anyway."
So, I guess I will just give the boys their cards, and some candies and little gifts I got them, and set Hub's card and DVDs out for him, and hope he feels guilty or something, who knows? Razz
I also made up little gifts for 2 good friends of mine, and my Mom. I do a lot of folk art, so I made them some Valentine-y dolls, holding hearts and such, got some different chocolates and truffles (candy) and made cute little baskets and decorations, etc. Everyone will know that *I* cared, :D. *I* just won't get anything! Maybe my boys will give me a smooch and ask me to be their Valentine.

Eh. The only thing I have to look forward to is the gift from my mum. See, my boyfriend has only ever given me a single rose and a diamond ring. That was a year and a half ago. So I have a Valentine, but that's where it ends.

Boys. Rolling Eyes Wink

Just a diamond ring? The poor guy probably had to subsist on Ramen for months to afford it. If that doesn't say "I love you," what will? Wink

Ah, jealousy. the bran muffin of courtship. Wink

sigh.... why do so many guys assume that a relationship is like a car; wonderful to have, but you don't think about it too much until something goes wrong. I could also ask why women both want (and *don't* want) men to understand them/read their minds about what they want, but that's probably stepping into trout territory. Very Happy
