Those are some great pictures. I followed them to your flickr and contacted you.

I went to Yellowstone once myself. It is so beautiful there. Also, my grandmother was from Boseman.

Do you guys think that taking an anatomy course makes your skill of drawing anything like a realistic human better? Just asking.

I never thought about it before. Possibly. But you can probably do the same by just studying pictures of humans and learning porportion that way. Thats how I did it.

Absolutely! Anatomy was a required section in our drawing classes in college. If you understand what's underneath the skin, it really helps you imagine, interpret, and represent what's outside the skin all the better. Think of it along the lines of trying to build a functional, working house without having an understanding of plumbing, electrical, drywall, or anything else.

D1, that Abe Lincoln is fantastic! And so is the Robin Hood scene. Man, I like how you can transition from realism to cartoonism and have great quality on equal. Man, some guys have all the luck. I think God was taking a whizz when he thought of making me. Very Happy
EDIT: @Mr.Mangles, what's with the evil Conan avatar?

no question about it, it helps a lot! I have nothing to add to what M19 already said, he pretty much summed it up. Not only does it improve your drawing skills directly, but just understanding the functionality of one's body can help you a lot.

@ D1 Thanks Very Happy I like your robin hood scene, even if it's directly based on the original one you still made a good job.

I'll try to upload an anatomic drawing from last year.

Ok, here we go, be warned the pics are slightly big.

Sorta, but not really. Basically what I did was take a classic space logo in the GIMP, blew it up huge, then traced over it using the Bezier curve tool. The lines are nice and clean and aren't hand-drawn, but making it larger will pixelize it, even though it needs to be pretty big to pixelize.

All the recent bubblehead talk and the classic Space logo got me doodling. I'd created a little cartoon character named Chickson J. Duck a while back. With a bit of a modification, he becomes a bit spacey...

Here a Tattoo design that I drew some time ago. I kinda messed up on the wings, but I'll have my Dad fix that when he gives me the Tat soon.

More adventures of Chickson in LEGOland. Maybe I should just start his own thread instead of repeatedly hijacking this one...
