|
|
And it's another IV MINI Model!
I even made a pretty crappy poster for it!
hm.
Whatever.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I can't shake him!"
-Red 5, during the Battle of Yavin. I forgot his name... Uh...hm... Well, it was probably somebody not so important anyway.
Well, first came the Death Star, then came the TIE Advanced, and then the Rebel Y-Wing. And judging from the quote up there, you probably know which model is next.
The MINI TIE Fighter!
WRONG
Uh, no people, it's the other one. The MINI X-Wing. I don't know why I put a link on the X-Wing. I mean, everybody knows what it is. Hm. Anyway, it's the X-Wing people. The fabulous T-65 X-Wing Starfighter, to be exact. Designed by Incom Corp during the early years of the Galactic Em- Nah, no it's not guys. It was build by the people at LFL or ILM or whoever it was, in 1976/7.
Anyway, onto the model. Here it is: MINI X-Wing
Well, as you can tell, it's very different compared to the official set one, and, if I may say so myself, more accurate. Well, TLG's one was smaller so they couln't fit any detail in theirs... and they can't 'cheat,' which is to use pieces in a different way than they were originally meant to be used, like the rubber bands on my MINI Y-Wing or minifig hands on my other MINI Models. This time I used the wheel center on the 3-wheeled bike for the big four thingys on the X-Wing, and not just a 1x1 round brick like the official set.
I don't like the white/dark red color scheme of the official one. To me, X-Wing is light gray/red (or, white/red, like the new minifig scale X-Wing)
Enjoy!
And, please do comment!
Oh yeah. This is my 49th model. The next one is my 50th! _________________ Brickshelf! Bricktacular!

Have you ever heard the phrase "Give up and go home" ...?
.....I'm joking of course, this is great. The wings seem kind of thick, but that's unavoidable in a mini like this. Was the mixing of old and new gray intentional? Those wheel hubs as the intakes look perfect. I wish they had them in gray, but they still look right as white. All in all, a nice improvement over the official set.
I patiently await #50 _________________ BULLETIN ISSUED SATURDAY 01.31.2009 11:59:59PM PST. ATTENTION ALL CITIZENS: PLEASE READ THIS |

Excellent use of smaller pieces, especially the wheels. I think your mini-models are great, because each one has so many interesting uses of small parts and very intriguing greebles. I really like your work, hope you build something dramatic for numbah fiddy. _________________

I love that mini X-wing! I'm not good at making minis, but yours is better than Lego's version! (Don't kill me for that) ::D: _________________ My Forum My deviantART My Brickshelf

Great work again! My fav. bit is the lightsabre engine outlets
I think the wheel hubs do come in grey, I'll have a look next time I'm on bricklink.
I can't work out exactly how the wings/engines are held on, an chance of a few more pics? Is is fairly stable? _________________ My Brickshelf |

They do come in grey. I have two of them myself. Great, great, great mini! I can't really think of anything to critisize. This is my favorite mini of yours so far, actually. I can't wait for #50! _________________

Sorry. Hope this is clear enough
If it isn't just say it isn't, then I will actually take a photo this time. _________________ Brickshelf! Bricktacular! |

Very nice work again. Very good use of pieces. The wheel hubs are a great idea.
I was always happy with the official one but I think you might have inspired me to have a go at this myself. |

I like this one a lot, especially how you worked around very prominent design problems when it comes to this scale and this ship. I still prefer your TIE Advanced and Y-Wing, though. _________________ Ironic, huh.

It was the minifig hand bit I couldn't quite get, but I've given it a try and it works well, more solid than I thought it would be, I might end up sealing that idea one day _________________ My Brickshelf |

Just to keep you informed, I'll almost done with my 50th MINI Model. Well, basically, it's finished, except one part, which the colors are not right. I'm waiting for bricks ordered on bricklink for the right color.
Meanwhile, I'll give you a clue on which model it is!
It's either the:
ISD, TIE Fighter, YT-1300 Millenium Falcon, X34 Landspeeder, Escape Pod, RBR, the Sandcrwler, ILC, or the YT-2400 Outrighter!!
Now you guys can guess which one it is! Huh-huh! ::D:
But no, seriously, it's almost finished. Photos might be up next Tuesday or so. (Maybe a bit later) _________________ Brickshelf! Bricktacular! |
