Hi FBTB'ers,

UPDATE 13/05/07, new backpack completed! Please scroll down for a photo. Cool

It's been a while since my last post, school's catching up on me and I haven't been able maintain momentum with my MOC's. But I still had enough time to create the template for my clone commandoes.

It's still a WIP but hopefully within the next few days I'll finish him off once and for all. I am yet to sculpt his backpack and helmet.

I played Republic Commando for the third time during my summer break, and it still left an impression on me Very Happy

This figure has been my most ambitious to date, I've beefed up the details on my templates to further diffrentiate this guy from his 'more common breathen'. The arm decals cover the arm completely and were really tricky to get right... Mad

I based the design off the plain clone commandoes that were in training on Kamino at the game's opening.

I love Republic Commando and this is my tribute to such a great game and story element to the ever expanding SW universe. Hope you enjoy him!

Another Shot of the front

Thanks for looking! Very Happy

These are beyond awesome, so thus, I have no word for them Smile

It also looks like you put alot of time making those decals, the detail is extremely good.

I know these were meant to be the ones on Kamino, but Im sure you would do the bestest battle damaged ones Wink

Anyway, I hope to see more of these clones.

I think you've actually managed to overdo the arms. They're just so busy that it looks cluttered and I can't tell what is what. Also, with such high detail on the arms the rest of the fig looks almost plain and neglected. I'd have expected to see the sides of the legs and such decaled too, but this isn't the case. Try and keep the level of detail consistent across the entire fig and it will look a bit more 'together'.

Wow it looks great. I ove the detail. But like RM said try make everything level with everything else. Maybe side leg decals because it lokks empty on the sides. But great job seriously. Very Happy

Once again as always thanks for the C&C, as this is still a WIP.

Ha, yeah Galagoo the details are quite nauseating : (. Yes~! kotorfan2000 I would love to do battle damaged commandos! Because having them grittier is much better. I plan to make delta squad as well if you're wondering ; ).

Thanks thief and RM for the criticism, i'll take it into consideration, as I am still in the WIP stage - nothing's set in concrete : ). I agree with you with the contrast in levels of detail on the arms and the chest, etc. I'll level everything out once I complete the full commando template. But anyhow I'll listen to your advice RM - the last time I did with my Cody, and with a few tweaks he turned out sweet!

Anyway this was just an experiment to see what 'full arm' decals would look on a fig : ). I really wanted to express the 'bulkiness' of the commandos via the full arm decals.

I will make side decals thief, so watch out : ) Thanks once again, and I'll post up the backpack once it's done : )

If you're going for bulky arms, try using some of mmcb's double shoulder pauldrons. They will give it bulk just fine, and can be painted or even decaled on top for a bit more detail. I'd say you could even try the same for a chest plate to make it bulky as well.

Painted yes, decaled!!!!
Do you know something I don't?

I haven't tried decalling over the top of my accessories, but I don't think it would work too well. I do know others have tried without successful results, mainly due to the fact of the uneven surface.

Cheers,
MMCB

Hi again,

In midst of making some troopers for my SW figs for Clones trade on FBTB, I decided to finish the backpack for my commando figure. I just modified a Hoth Trooper Backpack by cutting the top off. The back of the helmet is a computerised mockup (I am still refining the helmet decals, so hopefully they'll be done soon).

I recently picked up these really cool custom commando blaster, and they really bring the fig to life, I am planning to cut one up to make the various commando attachments (sniper, and anti armour).

"Nice DeeCee"

Thanks for looking!
