Okay, finalists are up. There are only four. There was a 3-way tie for the fifth spot, and so I decided to not include the three only cause if any one of those three models truly stood out, it would have garnered more votes.
The finalists are:
Darkkazmo's Space Thunder
DonSolo's X-84 Airspeeder
morgan19's UMC MV-7030 Swallowtail
Saber-Scorpion's StarTalon Fighter/Walker
Voting will close off in 5 days.
Update: New poll is up. I have verified the list of options against my list of entries and had someone else double check my work. It seems some of you would like a top 5 vote getters to have a second chance run off election. I will incorporate that idea starting with this contest. So after 7 days, I'll start a new poll with only the top 5 vote getters. That poll will also run for 7 days. Then finally a winner will be declared. Hopefully nothing else will happen to delay the end of the contest. I have May's contest idea ready to go.
My apologies to bearpred6 for missing his entry the first time around. But now with the new voting format, everyone has a third chance!
Update: And yet again, i have messed up on the poll leaving out an entrant. i'll reset the poll again tomorrow.
Update: The flickr set has been created. Please view each entry's gallery before voting. Since you can only vote once, choose carefully. Thanks.
***** PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POST BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS *****
Update: you may only submit one (1) entry.
Alright folks, 'tis time for a new contest. One that I shall call the 6208 B-wing Fighter Alternate Model Building Contest but I'm sure you were able to figure this out by now.
Entry Requirement: You must own one (1) copy of 6208 B-wing Fighter
Using your one copy of the 6208 B-wing Fighter set, build an alternate model using only pieces available in the set. You may use as many or as few of the available pieces.
Alternate Model Requirements: Your model must be System scale, better known as minifig scale, must be a vehicle of some sort, and a minifig must be able to sit/stand/lay down inside to pilot it.
How To Submit: You may post a reply to this message with one (1) image no greater than 640x480 and a link to your own online gallery space (flickr, brickshelf, maj, etc). Submissions will only be accepted between 24 March 2006 and 31 March 2006. Any submissions posted before or after those dates will immediately be ignored and deleted. That gives everyone 3+ weeks of building. Voting will take place the first week of April, between 1 April 2006 and 7 April 2006, using phpbb's built in polling system.
Prize: Winner will receive one (1) copy of the original 7180 B-wing Fighter Mint in Mint Sealed Box from my own personal collection.
Eligibility: Like 99% of my other contests, it is open to everyone on Earth.
I realize that this may alienate some builders since the set is priced at ~$35. I was considering using 6207 A-wing Fighter since it's cheaper, but the greater number and diversity of parts should lend itself well to varying designs.
If you have any questions, please feel free to post. If the answer to your question is already in this message, you will be tarred, feathered and publicly ridiculed. Class is dismissed. You may start building. _________________ flickr

also the a-wing is not a very widely available set, that does seem like a very generous prize, you could sell it on eBay for the great price of this
p.s, did you get my pm _________________

Limitations= creativness, if you have more limitations, it means you have to have more createvness to firgure out how to build something cool with the limited amount of pieces. An orignal B-wing, minti in box, is worth a pretty penny, and would be great to place next to your new one. And trust me, the B-wing has a lot of GREAT pieces to be creative with (although I don't have one, my friend does) .
If you are going to be this negative, why post at all, you aren't helping anything!. _________________ It's time for FBTBForums.net to "Get off my plane". |

Because some people feel the need to complain, even when their complaints aren't really valid or useful.

I agree, this contest is a good one! Lots of good parts and a great selection of pieces in the B-Wing to make something in the next three weeks.
For those that are complaining, would you like some cheese with that 'whine'? |

If we don't have 6208, can we look at the parts list for the set and only use those quantities, bricks, and colors? _________________

Ohh, this seems like a fun contest. Might I add, the new B-wing is a really, really good set, chalk full of awesome, long, sloped bricks *begins to drool at thought of allt he pieces*. Now, I am most defantely entering if I cant just find my instrucions (once contest are done, I like to rebuild the ships). Also, are we allowed to use the fueling station/display stand or just the ship? _________________ Trade, Anyone?

I don't see a problem with entering a contest where I can keep my winning entry built and have the original model too.
And, what is with all this "Did you get my PM?" Sounds like contest rigging. _________________

I try and mix up the theme of the contests so it's different every time because I recognize that not everyone is the same type of AFOL/Star Wars fan/casual collector/master model builder. Personally, I think the prize is pretty neat, especially for collectors/completists. Just because this contest isn't geared towards YOU in every way doesn't mean you have to poodoo on it.
The B-wing set has been out for some time now, and if it's not available in your country, I feel your pain. This certainly won't be the last contest I have. So stick around. I've already got some ideas cooking for May's contest. _________________ flickr |

Great contest, thanks for the opportunity.
Thanks in advance for your continued willingness to give out prizes. You are a money tree; may the fittest reach up to eat your fruits. _________________

Oopsy, where did say I that I'm gonna enter? ... Oh well, I might just give it a try then!... Just don't expect anything great! Remember, it's only one damn set!
BTW, can we submit multiple entries? If so, what's the limit? _________________ Darkkazmo

I've already started mine. Its really fun! I like it, though I'm sure my mouth will drop to the ground and my hopes dashed when I see other people's. I'm just not a moc builder. _________________
