All technical problems go here!
Technology is a wonderful thing, until you screw something up. No worries, it happens to everyone. Comp crashing too much? Fry your iPod? Delete your un-backed-up files? OMG VIRUS?!?! Post a plea for help and a fellow geek may be able to help you out. Just keep it all in this thread. -The Staff

Here goes, I have a Polaroid a520 camera, and all of a sudden it won't download pictures onto my computer. I tried it on a different computer, and it worked fine! I bought an SD card reader, but that hasn't helped so far. anyone know what the problem is? _________________ Raptor Fun Fact #73- The raptor's natural enemy is the gas-powered internal combustion off-road vehicle, which is made of evil.

If it won't even read the card, I'd say it's not the camera. See if the card is slid into lock, if not, try a different card, see if that works. _________________ It's time for FBTBForums.net to "Get off my plane". |

Does your computer have an SD card port in it? And what happens with the SD card reader? _________________

My HP camera was doing something similar, until I just formatted the card using the camera. _________________ Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe. - Albert Einstein |

Andrew: it slid into the lock just fine.
Junsier: my computer doesn't have one of those slots.
dWhisper: how would I do that? _________________ Raptor Fun Fact #73- The raptor's natural enemy is the gas-powered internal combustion off-road vehicle, which is made of evil.

You'll have to look it up in the camera's manual. It should have instructions. _________________ Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe. - Albert Einstein |

I meant the lock swtich on the memory card being slid into the lock position. _________________ It's time for FBTBForums.net to "Get off my plane". |

Years of practice, mate. Years of practice. That and the fact that my job consists of training people how to give a respectful RTFM all day long. _________________ Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe. - Albert Einstein |

I also have a camera problem.
My Sony DSC-H2 turned off (presumably because of battery) and the lens were out while it turn off. It was also taking a photo.
Now I put fresh batteries in - the camera turns on, the LCD screen says Cyber-shot - but it turns off immediately after. Also, when I turn it on, it makes a thumping noise inside the camera.
Any advice? I think it's going to need repair.

I have a problem, though I'm not sure if you guys will be able to help from your position.
I recently got Verizon FioS and it is compatible with our phone, Internet, and TV. However, my Xbox Live doesn't work, which I find strange since I've already connected the network and WEP key with my Xbox Livel it recognizes this new network as the primary one, and not my old Comcast one. What confuses me is that for some reason, it won't work, and the router is in the room next to my bedroom, where my 360 is.
When I test the connection or Xbox Live on the Settings bar in the dashboard, it always says the Xbox Live Network Adapter has failed, and indeed, the red light is shining on the wireless network adapter. Has anyone faced this problem before, or at least, something similar to it, and if so, do you know how you could help? Or am I potentially screwed? _________________ "Autumn is the seasons' death

I wasn't able to get Xbox live to work with my router until I hard-wired it. Works fine now.
My problem now with my 360 is that I have two wireless controllers, one came with the console and one I bought later. I got the rechargeable battery packs, and it works fine with the one I bought but not with the controller the 360 came with. The white one only works if I put in AA batteries. Otherwise it won't connect to the 360 and it just has the spinny lights. I tried the connect buttons on the 360 AND controller but it won't work. _________________

I have a Xbox 360 controller problem, although I don't think anybody can help. I mainly just want to know if anybody else has had this problem.
About two weeks ago I bought an xbox 360, Halo 3 and a black controller. I have never been an aggressive gamer, I probably played it less than an hour a day (Using the black controller all of that time) Then yesterday afternoon while playing Halo, the lower right analog stick broke on the inside. So, my question is, would Walmart replace it? Or should I try to fix it .
Thanks

Wal-Mart lets you return things within 90 days I believe, and if it's broken, return it. Don't try to take it apart, you void any warranty or guarantee for it then. _________________ Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe. - Albert Einstein |

Well, I don't have their entire policy memorized, but typically, yes, you need a receipt. If you're exchanging, they might let you get away with it. _________________ Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe. - Albert Einstein |

Alright, I'll try to find it and exchange it. Although it would've been more fun to take it apart .

I have a computer problem with the laptop of my mum.
The OS is Windows XP, I made a hardware list with Everest and got all missing hardware drivers from the internet. (when she bought it there was unfortunately no driver CD included).
Now everything works fine, EXCEPT one little thing:
Stand-By or hibernate.
If you send the computer into one of those two states there is an immediate complete re-boot. I looked into event log and there is an information about a serious error. But no description what is the source of that error.
I already unchecked "automatic re-boot by error", but then the computer stays just black and you have to manually re-boot it.
Has anyone an idea what that could be?
She needs stand-by at her laptop, but I am very clueless now. _________________ ~Andi

What security software are you using? That's the most frequent suspect for stand-by issues. _________________ Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe. - Albert Einstein |

Well... biggest thing I can say is that you need to update both of those. Install SP2, see how it works. SP2 fixed a poo-load of things. _________________ Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe. - Albert Einstein |

Okay, I try it. _________________ ~Andi

Which is why I'm going to wait for at least SP1 to switch to Vista. _________________ Wait now, what is this?

I'm going to chime in here with a point: If you buy anything that has a warranty, keep the receipt around until the warranty expires. That probably goes double for big ticket electronic purchases. Having the receipt will cut down on problems if you need to return or exchange an item.
I have a small filing cabinet with hanging folders, and one folder is all receipts. Keep them in the dark, as light tends to fade receipts as time passes. Like white LEGO bricks - no direct sunlight!

Try pulling off Norton and putting on something like AVG Free edition, see if that makes any difference. _________________ Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe. - Albert Einstein |

I closed all Norton processes and deactivated auto monitor. But the problem was still there. _________________ ~Andi
