The interview linked in the home page says that the chrome gold C3P0 will be available in North America only, but the home page itself states US only. Will this minifig will be available in Canada or not?
Cheers!

USA only? I would have though the US would want to expand the obvious frenzied search for threepio.

Steve Witt explicitely said North America. Others reporting about that interview mentionned USA. I think it's a case of the telephone game! Wink

I believe that the production/packaging/delivery network is the same for those two countries, making the separation of promotion and non-promotion items difficult.

My two cents ...

If you read the interview Steve states that they will be added to the packing line here in the US. So if Canadian sets are packaged in the US, I would say there is hope, but I don't think the Canadian sets are packaged here, are they? Packaging was in Conn, now it is in Dallas, so even if Canadian sets were packaged here, I doubt they will be any more.

My 2 cents.

From reading the interview, I assume the sets will include the currently released 2007 sets as well as the sets to be released in the summer (and possibly into the fall??) with the execption of the battle doid and clone trooper sets.

Does anyone know how many currently released sets are still being produced / packaged in comparison to the new sets to be released? In other words is there typically significant stock of current sets, or are these constantly being packaged to refill a certain stock level. My concern is my chances of getting a C3PO since I own all the current sets and do not really plan to rebuy them for a chance. I'll have to rely on the new releases for my odds.

Actually, on your website, Steve said North America:

FC – Are these 10,000 gold chromed figures going to be placed in sets worldwide or just in the US?
SW – the gold chromed C-3P0’s will be in sets packaged in North America only.

We already knew that - the question is whether it will be in Canada or not.

That was just a statement prior to my questions.

I have calls into my dealer rep to see what they say, since that will be the safest way to know for sure.

My question is this:

Will the additional baggie material and chromed C-3PO figure (assembled???) register any weight difference noticeable to scales that register digital decimal points? AND what are the chances that Bricklink.Com part supply folk will get 'em? Wink

That's just a normal United Stater reflex. North America only means USA to them. Razz

Precisely, just because you have something offered in America, does not mean you include America's Hat as well...

Since you will be on the phone with them, can you ask what the street date is for the Summer wave, i.e. MTT, JSF with ring and N-1?

This is a very strong case of the previously mentionned reflex. The printed letters get replaced by the subject's brain BEFORE he actually reads them. Quite impressive! Very Happy

I live in neither Canada or the USA. But from an outsiders perspective, I can't see how they can differentiate between the two countries.

When you take a look at Lego S@H, Canada and USA have the same page of products on offer to order. One can then assume that both countries get the same products from the one distributor.

I'm pretty sure that the boxes that North America get have the amount of "pcs/pzs" printed just underneath the set number and set title.
The other type of box has nothing printed about the number of peices, just the number & title.

Europe and the Rest of the World share the same page for orders. When a product is available in North America, it may not be available for the ROTW (and vice versa).
That is how I theorise that LEGO will control the output so that the USA & Canada will get Gold 3PO's and the ROTW will miss out.

The biggest visible difference is by far the size... On a map, Canada is the larger one that is further north. Wink

The next biggest difference had been in the currency... Before color laser printers got really good at counterfeiting US money, Canadian paper money was exclusively printed by Parker Brothers, the makers of Monopoly... The United States thought this was one of a handful of pretty smart things that Canada has given North America (the others are not limited to but typically have to do with hunting, Grand Bend Ontario, Hockey, Don Cherry, Bret Hart, really good beer, retractable roof stadiums in Montreal and Toronto, smoked meat in Montreal) and copied the Monopoly Money for their own. A couple of other things include Loonies and Twonies (pronounced TWO-Neez)... Wink Twisted Evil

Honestly I don't think they have a clue sometimes, it takes a bit of digging to really find out which items are USA only vs North America (and don't even ask if it's going to be in Mexico since that's NA as well).

I know it's not going to stick, but here's a quick geographic lesson for the general public:

When you're talking about North America, you're talking about :

Belize
Canada
Costa Rica
Cuba
Dominican Republic
El Salvador
Greenland
Guatemala
Haiti
Honduras
Jamaica
Mexico
Nicaragua
Panama
United States

In all of these places people could call themselves North Americans, but in only one of them they want to be known as Americans. Wink

So basically, Septemris, the USA is the only country people refer to when saying North America, right? Wink

ROFLMAO!!! I hate to admit, but I know lots of Americans who feel that way. No wonder other countries hate us.
